Arne Jacobsen
Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding influence on the simplistic minimalist aspect to his designs. The differentiating feature Jacobsen has from his renowned contemporaries was that his designs were at the forefront of the rise of Scandinavian design. Inspired by international styles, but creating a Modernist approach, he pioneered was a distinctly Scandinavian version of all his pieces.
Arne Jacobsen was very productive both as an architect and as a designer. At the end of the 1950s Arne Jacobsen designed the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and for that project the Egg, the Swan, the Swan sofa and Series 3300 was created. These designs demonstrated Jacobsen’s ingenuity to create furniture with a simple yet elegant construction.
Arne Jacobsen collaborated with Danish Design Company Fritz Hansen that saw the notable Series 7 chair become an iconic piece in Modern design.
Arne Jacobson also and made lasting contributions to Georg Jensen as well as international Modernist design, thus making his collections very collectable.
